Now EstateAssist automates your correspondence

When people think of probate software, the first thought is of automated pleadings. EstateAssist automatically produces your pleadings - state standard probate forms, as well as local probate forms for 20 Ohio counties and counting. However, there is a lot more work to a probate practice than just the pleadings.

For some time we have targeted correspondence as an area of significant need for our users. Probate work is already filled with the preparation and sending of letters to courts, clients, interested persons, financial institutions, and more. Moreover, we should all probably be sending more letters because clear and consistent communication is the key to keeping people happy and informed in our work.

That's why we have created our new automated word document correspondence feature. Our users can now upload their own letters in Word Document format and have them fully automate with case details for simple click-and-print functionality. Say goodbye to typing in templates, copying and pasting, and trying to get mail merge to help save you time.

See how it works:

If you are an EstateAssist user, you can start using it today. You will start by creating your own template letters in Microsoft Word. You can see how to do that here:

Here are the variables EstateAssist currently automates for you in your letters:

Then you will upload your letters to your EstateAssist account for use in all of your cases. See more about that here:

With that, you will be up and running with automated click-and-print functionality for all of your probate correspondence needs.

There are a few things that will help you with this process:

All of your documents need to be saved as Microsoft Word Documents (*.docx). When created, they should show up like this:

We also suggest using Microsoft Edge. While we are big fans of Google Chrome, Microsoft Word sometimes gets confused when communicating with it. If you keep Word open, multiple letter opens will sometimes create an error where Word thinks the letter is already open. This is called a "caching" issue. It can be solved by closing your Word session and allowing the next letter to reopen it. However, Microsoft Edge internet browser does not have this communication issue and you can open as many letters as you want with Word remaining open, without issue.

We are confident this feature will save you and your time, while also making it easier for you to increase your communication with people and institutions involved in your probate matters. We expect it to make a very positive impact and look forward to hearing your feedback.
